Lenox Ambulance Service, in Lenox, Iowa, began transporting patients in November 1978.

The Lenox Ambulance Service is a volunteer service. Members include one paramedic, six EMTs, and four CPR certified drivers. We operate with two Type III ambulances, complete with state of the art equipment for patient care.

Our first obligation is answering emergency calls in the Lenox, Clearfield, and Sharpsburg areas, as well as occasional hospital to hospital patient transfers, and non-emergency transfers.

The Lenox Ambulance Service provides more than emergency responses. We also provide educational opportunities through CPR and First Aid classes, presentations to school children, tours of the ambulance, and bicycle safety "rodeos" for 1st and 4th graders during EMS week each year.

The Lenox Ambulance Service responds to fire calls for the Lenox Fire Department, Clearfield Fire Department, and Sharpsburg Fire Department, providing rehab for the firefighters. You will see us in our 2006 Wheeled Coach ambulance, decked out in school colors, at the Lenox High School Tiger football field for high school and junior high football games, at the annual Lenox Stock and Saddle Club sponsored rodeo, and other events in the community.

The Lenox Ambulance Service is a member of the Taylor County EMS Association. Taylor County is on the most southern tier of counties in the southwest corner of Iowa. It is one of the few counties in the state that does not have a hospital. Ambulance services are located in Bedford, Blockton, and New Market, and non-transport rescue services are located in Clearfield and Gravity. The most commonly utilized hospitals for patients from Taylor County are Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning, Clarinda Regional Hospital, and Ringgold County Hospital in Mt. Ayr.
