classes. Some are required by all emergency responders, some are
required of EMS providers only, and others are optional.
- Bloodborne Pathogens - required of all ambulance
personnel, yearly. You can take this class face-to-face, or
go online to the following link. It's free. Register, take the course and print your
certificate at:
- NIMS (National Incident Management System) -
required once of all ambulance personnel. This is the link
to the Emergency Training Institute independent study page.

- Incident Command System (ICS 100 or 200) -
required once of all ambulance personnel. This is the link
to the Emergency Training Institute independent study page.

- HazMat Awareness -
All responders need to have
this class at least once - it is suggested that you repeat
it occasionally.
- Other classes, not available online, all EMS personnel are required to have are:
START and JumpStart
(Simple Triage & Rapid Treatment, Adult/Pediatric - at least once Mandatory Reporting
for Dependent Adult and Child Abuse - every 5 years Emergency
Vehicle Operator's Course - Every 3 years (Lenox policy) HIPAA
Training - Yearly (Federal Law)
